Dove Cameron and Damiano David are in perfect harmony.
In fact, the “Too Much” singer—who first sparked romance rumors with the Måneskin frontman in 2023—recently shared insight into their lowkey relationship.
“We’re really just enjoying being a normal couple. We’re quite genuinely private,” she exclusively told Erin Lim Rhodes on E! News’ The Rundown. “We like to stay home more than anything else.”
“We’re watching Lost,” Dove continued, “6 p.m. the jammies are on.”
After being spotted attending one of Damiano’s concerts in September 2023, fans started to suspect they were dating. They officially hard launched on the red carpet at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala in February 2024, sharing a kiss in front of the cameras.
Since then, the two have attended many events together, including the 2024 Met Gala and the third annual Cam For A Cause gala in honor of her late Descendants costar Cameron Boyce in June 2024.
And their relationship has given her a new perspective. Her new song “Too Much” pulls from a night when, according to a February interview with Billboard, a guy she was on a date with told her, “You know people like you better when you talk less.”
However, as she shared on The Rundown, “It’s really less about that one specific event, and it’s more about the grand scope of my life and how I internalized feeling like I was too much wherever I went. I have a pretty strong hunch that this is a very common problem.”
From that realization, the Liv and Maddie alum swore off dating, trying to understand why she felt that way in hopes to “dismantle” that belief. Then, she met Damiano.
“I met my current partner who came and just showed me all the possibilities for all of the people I could be, the size I could be, and still also be celebrated for that,” Dove shared. “It was really enlightening to me in retrospect to look back at some of my previous dating experiences and be like, ‘Wow! Ok, this can be done differently, and it was circumstantial.’”
She added, “And that’s why, even though I’m in a very healthy, happy relationship, I was able to write this song.”
