Denise Richards is mitigating a family feud.
During the premiere for her new reality show, the Wild Things actress detailed why her and ex Charlie Sheen’s daughters Sami, 20, and Lola, 19, had a rift that led to Lola skipping their family vacation.
“Lola would not come because her and Sami are fighting,” Denise explained to Camille Grammar during the March 4 episode of Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, “They are not speaking at all. I don’t really know the details except Sami’s ex-boyfriend, Lola has remained friends with him.”
In later confessionals, Lola and Sami each explained their side of the beef, further detailing how Sami’s ex-boyfriend had come between them.
“She always had it in her head that I wanted her boyfriend,” Lola alleged of her sister’s perspective. “I introduced them! She expected me to just completely drop him as a friend and just leave a hang-out if he was there.”
Meanwhile, Sami called out Lola’s take, noting she knew her sister would allege their disagreement stemmed from her remaining friendly with her ex—and went on to explain her side of the story, accusing her sister of “breaking girl code.”
“They were talking about me behind my back,” Sami said in her own confessional. “I would never do that to a friend, let alone my sister.”
But while her daughters were fighting, Denise—who is also mom to her adopted 13-year-old daughter Eloise—continued to try to bring the family together.
In fact, later in the episode, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum—whose husband is Aaron Phypers—expressed worry that she had “f–ked” her kids with her parenting, but orchestrated a barbecue to attempt to settle her daughters’ fight.
As she put it, “This is the longest they’ve ever gone through something like this, and I think that they need to just be done with it.”
However, the feud only seemed to get deeper. During the family event, Sami called Lola a “b—h,” while Lola insisted of her sister, “If she could just not cuss me out and actually be respectful, that would be nice.”
In the following episode, Lola and Sami revealed that their fight went beyond a singular issue, with the 20-year-old detailing that her younger sister’s recent conversion into Christian faith has also pushed them apart, saying, “She thinks I believe in Satan, and it’s just, it’s kind of a lot.”
Finally, Denise pulled in a cousin for assistance in ending the feud. In a mediated lunch conversation, Lola explained that it was frustrating to have her sister begin dating someone in her friend group to begin with, while Sami felt her sister had “chosen” her ex-boyfriend over her in the breakup.
Despite not reaching a concrete solution, Sami and Lola were able to end the conversation with mutual understanding, even exchanging “I love yous” and agreeing that time would help them settle their disagreement.
“I still have hope that my relationship with Sami is gonna get better because she said ‘I love you,’” Lola said later in a confessional, “which she does not say. That is hard for her to say.”
