Jason Ritter knows there’s a lot of buzz around his wife Melanie Lynskey.
Indeed, the couple’s date night at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars Party on March 2, quickly had the Yellowjackets star’s fans’ gushing over her sparkling red Christian Siriano gown, which she accessorized with jewels and her dark locks falling in loose waves around her shoulders. This includes one person on X who after seeing Melanie’s look had just one question for Jason: “can you fight?”
And the Parenthood alum took the light-hearted challenge in stride, quickly responding with a simple, “Yes I can fight.”
While the duo mingled at the post-Oscars party with other celebrities including Natasha Rothwell, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Lilly Singh, and Jessica Williams, they often keep their life out of the public eye.
Although the couple of more than a decade, who share a daughter, 7, have occasionally shared insight into their life together.
For instance, Jason previously admitted that he almost didn’t work up the confidence to initiate a relationship with the Two and a Half Men alum after meeting on the set of the 2013 movie The Big Ask. While he always admired the actress, he wanted to work on his sobriety first.
“At a point, I knew how amazing she was and I thought she would be incredible for someone who deserved her, basically, and I didn’t feel like I was that person. I felt a little bit too crazy,” Jason, 43, said on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023. “So it was only after like, maybe a year into not drinking where I started to go, oh, maybe I can promise some things to someone else. Maybe I can be this person.”
In the same interview, Melanie also shared that the start to their relationship came after some bumps in the road.
But after they’d finally find their way together, Melanie admitted that there was one moment in particular where she realized he was the one.
“I had a very very old dog,” she explained on Drew Barrymore’s talk show in 2023, “and Mouse was so so old at this point in getting up in the night multiple times, needing to pee, and it was kind of driving me crazy and Jason would get up with her every single time and just take her outside and go back to sleep and get up and take her outside. And I think that was when I was like, oh, I could have a child with this man, like, I could really do this.
