All eyes were on the 2025 Oscars red carpet.
For the 97th Academy Awards held on March 2, hosted by Conan O’Brien at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, some of Hollywood’s biggest celebs pulled out their most head-turning looks to celebrate this year’s cinematic brilliance. (See every star in attendance here.)
ICYMI, Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez and Demi Moore were among those who took glamour to a whole new level with the most dazzling gowns covered in sequins, jewels and intricate details. Meanwhile, Lily-Rose Depp, Miley Cyrus and Whoopi Goldberg opted for a bit of a darker palette, wowing the crowd with eye-catching textures and silhouettes.
Halle Berry shut down the red carpet (as usual) with one of her most iconic looks yet, donning a reflective Christian Siriano form-fitting gown that resembled a mirror mosaic. And along with her glimmering jewelry, her flawless bob was a stunning accessory itself.
Ariana Grande, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Wicked, swapped out her usual Glinda pink for something a little more subtle—though the silhouette more than made up for it.
The blush pink of the two-time Grammy winner’s Schiaparelli SS25 gown was reminiscent of the bubble her character Glinda steps out of in the stage-to-screen adaptation, featuring a structured lace-up bodice with sparkling tulle and lace flowing from the bottom. And if it wasn’t fabulous enough already, her skirt was comprised of 190,000 crystal sequins and rhinestones.
But Ariana wasn’t the only one whose outfit was a subtle nod to her Wicked character. Indeed, her costar Cynthia Erivo walked the carpet in a striking dark green Louis Vuitton gown with huge velvet off-the-shoulder sleeves and a matching collar.
And while Cynthia—who was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role—channeled her character Elphaba through the dramatic ensemble, it also paid tribute to the first-ever Black Academy Award winner Hattie McDaniel, who won Best Supporting Actressin 1940for her role as Mammy in Gone With the Wind.
“Tonight is for Haddie McDaniel,” Cynthia’s stylist Jason Bolden wrote on his Instagram Stories March 2. “Hope this Dress Makes You Proud!!”
