Gypsy RoseBlanchard is thankful to be a girl mom.
The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up star, who welcomed daughter Aurora Raina Urker with partner Ken Urker at the end of December, shared that she was “relieved” that she gave birth to a baby girl and not a boy.
“I kind of feel a little bit more relieved that we had a girl because I don’t know what to do with a little boy,” Gypsy Rose told People in an interview published Feb. 28. “I’m a girly girl myself, so all the pink and ruffles and stuff like that, that’s my area of expertise.”
The 33-year-old—who served eight years in prison after being charged with second-degree murder for her role in the 2015 death of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard—went on to explain that her desire for a daughter stems from her relationship with her late mother.
“I think despite my relationship with my mom,” Gypsy Rose noted, “I think there is something special about a mother and daughter’s relationship that I am so blessed to be able to live through with her because I didn’t have that with my own mom.”
She added, “It’s nice that I can just step into that role of a mother and see how it’s supposed to be.”
As for the biggest concern she’s had during her first few months as a mother, it comes down to “just kind of taking her out in public a lot.”
“We’ve had two or three outings so far,” the reality star, who lives in New Orleans, noted. “It’s been cold lately, so we have been staying a lot indoors, but with her being so little, I’m nervous just around people.”
“It’s Mardi Gras season,” Gypsy Rose continued. “There’s just a lot of people, like the city is packed, so we’re still trying to be cautious of where to take her [and] when to take her.”
Despite her latest updates on her motherhood journey, she recently cautioned her fans not to expect her to post photos of her daughter on social media.
“To everyone asking, No, I will not be posing pictures of Aurora,” she wrote on her Instagram Story in January, a week after giving birth. “I understand everyone’s excitement and we appreciate the support, but we value the privacy and safety of our daughter.”
Gypsy Rose added, “We continue to express love towards our supporters and thank you for following our journey.”
