If you’re reading this, you’ve likely just discovered that seasonal color analysis dictates that you look best in a spring color palette.

You may be wondering, am I a light spring or a bright spring? And after narrowing that down, what colors should I be wearing?

We asked a color expert for answers.

What To Wear if You Have a Spring Color Palette

Overall, Sarah Shim – founder of personal color analysis and styling studio Yoni Color Studio in Los Angeles – says that a spring color palette consists of soft and sunny pastels, vibrant tropical hues, and what she calls “Crayola” colors.

Based on the color analysis system (called PCCS) Shim uses, she identifies two spring subcategories: light spring and bright spring.

“A light spring has lower saturation, so they should gravitate towards soft hues and pastels like baby blue and muted peach,” she says.

On the other hand, “a bright spring has higher saturation and looks best in sunnier, more vivid colors like sunshine yellow, tangerine, and chartreuse shades,” she explains.

If you’re a girl who loves a good neutral, you’ll want to lean towards soft earthy tones. “Instead of black, white, and navy, warm naturals are more like beige, ivory, brown. Specifically softer browns versus dark chocolate or espresso browns,” Shim advises.

We didn’t forget about jewelry, either. The color analysis expert says that soft gold, pearl, and rose gold complement springs the best.

Based on current runways, Shim predicts that colors like like cream, peach pink, and the boho-inspired combination of ivory and brown will the trendiest spring colors in 2025.

What Is Seasonal Color Analysis?

You’ve probably seen this buzzy term all over the internet. Chances are, you aren’t the only with questions.

Sarah Shim, founder of the personal color analysis and styling studio Yoni Color Studio, explains it as “finding the color palette that flatters you best by looking at the contrast within your features and how they work together.”

There are four color seasons: winter, spring, autumn, and summer.

“Think of it is a weapon for those days where you really pop,” says Shim. “When you know what colors work best on you, you feel very confident.”

Shim emphasizes that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to fashion, but that knowing your color season can serve as a helpful guideline when shopping for clothing and makeup.

How To Find Your Color Palette

According to our expert, color analysis is based primarily on the the undertone of your complexion.

“You can find that out by trying on a bright white T-shirt versus a beige or cream T-shirt,” she says. “If you feel like your features look softer in cream or beige, you’re closer to warm undertones. If you feel you look more crisp and sharp in bright white, then you’re closer to cool tones,” she explains.

Hair color can also play a role in determining your color palette. Those with ashier tones and dark, charcoal-hued hair are more likely cool, while those with golden, honey, or dark brown shades are more likely to have warm undertones.

Lastly, if you feel that your features look more defined in dark colors, you’re likely an autumn or a winter. Alternatively, if you look fresher in softer pastel hues, you’re probably a spring or summer.
