Kim Kardashian is reminiscing about her iconic Saturday Night Live debut.

Half a century after Chevy Chase uttered the words “live from New York,” on the first-ever episode of SNL in 1975, historic cast members, hosts and guests alike gathered the celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary.

And though it’s been a few years since she’s graced the Studio 8H stage, the Kardashian star walked NBC’s red carpet Feb. 16 ahead of the golden anniversary celebration wearing a dazzling silver skin-tight gown with subtle sheer details.(See all the stars on the red carpet here.)

Kim hosted an episode of the sketch comedy in October 2021 alongside musical guest Halsey, where during her opening monologue, she wowed audiences by how incredibly hard she went after her family with her ruthless one-liners. But rest assured, there were no hard feelings.

How It Feels to Be Impersonated on SNL

“Everyone in the family was just like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Everyone was really easy and game for me to do whatever I wanted,” Kim told i-D in a December 2021 interview. “Although I had a really funny joke about Tristan [Thompson] and Khloé [Kardashian] that I took out—I could’ve maybe gone further.”

“Everyone was like, ‘Use me. Do whatever you want. This is your time’” she continued. “They were down. That was super cool.”

After all, the 44-year-old—who went on to date then-cast member Pete Davidson for nearly a year after sparks flew on the SNL set—admitted that Kardashian-Jenners are no strangers to teasing each other with the most diabolical jokes.

“We have a sense of humor,” the SKIMS founder explained. “We roast each other as a family all day long. None of us are sensitive to it. I wanted people to see a part of my personality that all my friends know, that everyone close to me knows.”

But prior to hosting in season 47, it turns out, Kim had never even seen an episode of creator Lorne Michaels’ legendary show.

“I was nervous for a second because, I have to be honest, I had never seen SNL before,” she told Jimmy Fallon on a June 2022 episode of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I had gone to one taping of Eddie Murphy [in 2019], and I had gone backstage.”

“I gotta be honest,” she quipped to the former Weekend Update host, who was an SNL cast member for six seasons, “I had no idea you were on.”
