Drake is focusing on laughing now, saving any crying for later.
After Kendrick Lamar dissed the rapper during his Super Bowl LIX Halftime show Feb. 9, Drake proved he really DGAF.
In fact, on the day of the game—which saw the Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, including players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce—Drake was busy performing his own concert in Melbourne, Australia, as part of his Anita Max Win Tour.
The following day, Drake shared a clip from his show—which featured the crowd moshing as fire streamed overhead in time with the music—and from an after-party celebration, during which people danced to Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall” under purple lights.
Drake’s unbothered attitude comes after Kendrick took multiple shots at his rival.
For starters, his concert ensemble included a diamond-encrusted “a” necklace, a choice fans interpreted as a nod to his “A minor” lyric in his hit song “Not Like Us” which calls out Drake.
In fact, while performing the song during the halftime show, Kendrick included the lines “Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young” and “tryna strike a chord, and it’s probably A minor.”
Not only that, but the “Money Trees” singer brought out Serena Williams—who reportedly dated Drake in 2015—as a surprise guest.
“Let’s go Super Bowl halftime,” she wrote afterwards on X. “I died a little!”
When it comes to Drake and Kendrick’s feud, Serena has previously made her stance known.
“If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” she said at the 2024 ESPY Awards in July. “He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re going to Forrest Gump him. Seats taken.”
In addition to Serena, Kendrick’s performance also included special appearances from SZA, who has been a longtime collaborator of the rapper, and Samuel L. Jackson, who acted as “Uncle Sam” throughout the performance, offering up commentary.
