Oxygen Renews ‘Snapped’ for 2 Seasons, Spins It Off (Again) With ‘Killer Moms,’ and Orders Doc on the Hooters Murders

Oh, snap: Oxygen has renewed its flagship series Snapped for two more seasons.

The true-crime cable network will return its bread-and-butter show for seasons 37 and 38(!), and even ordered another spinoff, Snapped: Killer Moms (working title). The channel already has spinoffs Snapped: Behind Bars (currently in season 3) and Snapped: Killer Couples (currently in season five).

Additionally, Oxygen, soon to be under the Versant umbrella, has greenlit original two-hour documentary Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift (also a working title, but they’ll both probably end up as final titles).

“From 2001 to 2010, three women — a newlywed, a college hopeful, and a young mom — were murdered in cold blood,” the logline reads. “Separated by thousands of miles, they shared one connection: they were all ‘Hooters Girls.’“ Unfortunately, that’s a stalker-heavy gig.

Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift is co-produced by Expectation and Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC). Kevin Brennecke is showrunner; Ben Wicks and Tim Hincks of Expectation and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman of IPC are executive producers. The documentary was developed by Amy Dallmeyer.

Snapped is Oxygen’s most-watched series and has outperformed all other original cable entertainment series in its time slot this year. Season 36 debuts on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. ET/PT; Snapped will reach its next milestone, 700 episodes, in 2026.

Snapped has long been a cornerstone of Oxygen, and we’re thrilled to continue the franchise with two more seasons while expanding its universe with Snapped: Killer Moms. Alongside the gripping new documentary Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift, these additions underscore our commitment to delivering riveting true-crime stories that keep audiences engaged and coming back for more,” Cori Abraham, senior vice president of unscripted content at Versant, said in a statement.

Snapped profiles women accused of “heinous acts,” in Oxygen’s words. “Whether the motivation was revenge against a cheating husband, the promise of a hefty insurance payoff, or putting an end to years of abuse, the reasons are as varied as the women themselves. From socialites to secretaries, these female criminals share one thing in common: at some point, they all snapped.”

Snapped is produced by Jupiter Entertainment. Patrick Reardon, David O’Donnell and Deborah Allen serve as executive producers, along with showrunner Madeline Griffey.

Some women who snap are moms, Oxygen has (probably) realized, hence the spinoff series Snapped: Killer Moms. The series “highlights high-emotion and high-stakes stories where a mother’s unconditional love twists into bloodshed, as matriarchs stop at nothing to protect or avenge their kids,” its description reads. “Each episode peels back the layers of seemingly ordinary women whose motherly instincts lead them to unthinkable violence.”

Right, don’t f**k with mama bear(s). Like OG Snapped, Killer Moms is produced by Jupiter; Reardon is EP.
