When The Night Agent returns, Peter Gabriel is a new man.
Following the season two ending that set the stage for a season three shift, Netflix has dropped the trailer for the return of creator Shawn Ryan‘s hit spy-thriller action series starring Gabriel Basso. The new season returns with all episodes Feb. 19.
The action-packed, stunt-heavy footage of the third season (below) shows Peter (Basso) once again out in the field with a new world-saving task involving a globe-spanning conspiracy. But this time, he’s racked with guilt that everything that is happening is his fault.
“I think now that Peter isn’t having to balance his personal life and work life, he’s become more monomaniacal,” the star tells Netflix’s Tudum, along with the first look, referring to breaking things off with Rose (Luciane Buchanan) in season two. “Whether that’s a defense mechanism or whether it’s for the better, I guess it’s up to the viewer to decide. As for me, I enjoyed being able to fully commit to a capable and more focused version of Peter.”
Ryan, meanwhile, promises an “adrenaline-fueled thrill ride.”
New faces are among the season three cast: Louis Herthum, Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Jennifer Morrison, Albert Jones, Ward Horton and Genesis Rodriguez as journalist Isabel De Leon, a new scene partner for Basso.

Ryan had told THR at the end of season two that Peter’s desire to separate from Rose “reflects his connection with her. It’s because he cares so much about her that he feels like she needs to be away from him. … The last thing we would do is manufacture crisis after crisis season after season that feel artificial to keep them together.”
Here’s the logline for season three: “Coming off the explosive events of season two, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process.”
Creator and showrunner Ryan executive produces via MiddKid Productions. Executive producers for the Sony Pictures Television series also include Marney Hochman with MiddKid Productions, Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn with Exhibit A; James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and Nicole Tossou with Project X; David Beaubaire with Sunset Lane Media; Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland and Seth Fisher.
