Sean Astin leads a feature about the power to stop time that is jumping into theaters next month.
Pinnacle Peak Pictures has acquired North American rights to director Jeremy Snead’s film Matter of Time and will release it theatrically on Feb. 27, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. Astin, Myles Erlick (Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story), Ali Astin and Jaimie Alexander round out the cast for the movie that premiered at last year’s Dallas International Film Festival.
Matter of Time centers on Charlie Fleck (Erlick), a 29-year-old aspiring video game designer who discovers a device that allows him to stop time, leading him to grapple with that power and its ramifications. The poster and trailer can both be seen below.
Snead helmed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Jason Baumgardner, Zach Smith and Sean Wilkie. Chris Dowling, Matt Green and Anthony Tyler Quinn earned story credits. Snead produced Matter of Time with Baumgardner and Ian Campbell.
The filmmaker previously directed the series Playing With Power: The Nintendo Story, which counted Sean Astin as executive producer. Matter of Time marks Sean and Ali Astin’s first time appearing on screen together since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
“After years of telling real stories through documentaries, stepping into narrative filmmaking with Matter of Time was exhilarating,” says Snead. “Working with my long time collaborator Sean Astin and setting the film in the world of game design made it all the more special for me. The film is really about ambition, loss and connection. I’m thankful to everyone who believed in this film, and I can’t wait to share it with audiences nationwide when it opens in theaters on Feb. 27, 2026.”
