Hollywood is grieving the loss of Catherine O’Hara.
O’Hara died Friday at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. She was 71.
The actress and two-time Emmy winner was beloved for her roles in Schitt’s Creek, Beetlejuice, (and the sequel), Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and The Studio.
Following the news of her death, many of her co-stars and more of Hollywood took to social media to pay tribute.
Macaulay Culkin, who played her son in the Home Alone films, shared an emotional post on Instagram. “Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say,” he wrote. “I love you. I’ll see you later.”
Her SNL castmate, Mike Myers also paid tribute. It is a very sad day for comedy and for Canada. She was one of the greatest comedy artists in history, an inspiration for millions and above all a very elegant lady. Sending much love and condolences to her family,” Myers told THR.
Pedro Pascal, who she worked alongside in The Last of Us, shared a tribute on Instagram with a photo of the pair on set. “Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. Always,” he wrote followed by a heart. “The one and ONLY #CatherineOHara”
