Sony‘s four-movie Beatles biopic project from director Sam Mendes has added to its ensemble cast.
The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event has cast Lucy Boynton as Jane Asher, Farhan Akhtar as Ravi Shankar, Morfydd Clark as Cynthia Lennon and Harry Lawtey has joined as Stuart Sutcliffe.
Boynton’s credits include playing Mary Austin in Bohemian Rhapsody, The Greatest Hits, Chevalier, The Pale Blue Eye, and she will appear in Jay Duplass’ See You When I See You. Bollywood’s Akhtar has starred in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, The Sky Is Pink, Marvel’s Ms. Marvel and most recently 120 Bahadur in the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati.
Clark is best known for her breakout role in Saint Maud, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and she is set to play Ophelia in Hamlet, opposite Riz Ahmed. Lawtey stars in Industry, and earlier appeared in The Pale Blue Eye and Joker: Folie à Deux and will be next be seen opposite Russell Crowe in Billion Dollar Spy.
The quartet join a cast that includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Production has begun in the U.K. on the four films that will each focus on a different band member.
Other cast members include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd as George Martin and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey. Behind the camera is cinematographer Greig Fraser, editor Lee Smith, production designers Stefania Cella, Mark Tildesley and Neal Callow, costume designer Sinéad Kidao and hair and makeup designer Naomi Donne.
Mendes is directing all four films and is producing alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Neal Street’s Julie Pastor. Alexandra Derbyshire is also producing. Sony Pictures will finance and distribute the project worldwide, which is set to hit theaters in April 2028.
