Betty White wasn’t afraid to speak her mind in her golden years.
Bones actor David Boreanaz detailed a hilarious moment he shared with the late Golden Girls star when she guest starred on the series alongside Emily Deschanel in 2015.
“She showed up in the diner. They drive her in and put her—Ms. White—usher her in,” he recalled during a panel at the Television Festival Aug. 16, per People. “And she says hello to everybody.”
David, 56, continued, “And Emily and I are waiting for her. And she’s like, ‘Good to see you. Oh, good to see you. You’re so nice. You’re so pretty.’ She goes up to Emily—‘Oh, you’re so pretty.’”
However, the actor—who was over 45 years younger than Betty—shared that her sweet demeanor took a turn when she spoke directly to him.
“She looks at me, she goes, ‘Holy s–t, I want to f–k you. I want to f–k you!’” he said. “I just started laughing.”
Emily noted she “didn’t hear” the comment, but she wasn’t “saying it didn’t happen,” as the cast joked about Betty’s icon behavior.
After all, Betty was known for her charming sense of humor. In one of her last interviews before she died at the age of 99 in 2021, she shared that one of her tips for living a good life was “don’t take yourself too seriously.”
In the January 2021 interview with People, she explained that she likes to keep it light. As she put it, “The positive side is a lot more fun.”
Ultimately, the life advice she wanted to share with others was simple.
“Again, having a sense of humor,” she said, “Just looking at the positive side and not dwelling on the downside. Takes up too much energy being negative.”
