Why Emily Blunt Says Filming Devil Wears Prada 2 Feels Like They’re “in a Zoo”

Watch:Why Emily Blunt Says Filming ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Feels Like They’re “in a Zoo”

Emily Blunt has had to gird her loins a lot lately.

As she films The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the Fall Guy star, who reprises her role of Emily Charlton in the movie, admitted the cast has taken note of the media attention on set.

“We feel a little bit like zoo exhibits,” Blunt joked to E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). “But that’s OK. People are excited.”

But while she was understanding of fans’ excitement toward the film, which hits theaters May 1, 2026, Blunt wasn’t forking over even a cubed cheese-worth of information. As she put it, “I can tell you nothing.”

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old—who shares daughters Hazel, 11, and Violet, 9, with husband John Krasinskicould share that she loved balancing her work as the Paris-obsessed fashion executive with her role of Dawn Staples in The Smashing Machine, a biological sports drama about MMA fighter Mark Kerr

“It’s wonderful, the variety—it’s so exciting,” she gushed. “It’s the thing I love most, I guess. Delving into different genres and different worlds. They couldn’t be more different.”

Indeed, the A Quiet Place alum admitted it was a “thrill” to play a character she was able to meet in real life, as Staples was married to Kerr, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, during the events portrayed in the Benny Safdie film.

“It’s an intimate story of their relationship and all the nooks and crannies and flaws and all,” she explained. “She was so generous with me in sharing it. It was so beautiful to get to play someone who I truly could absorb.”

As for Blunt’s Devil Wears Prada alter ego Emily, she will get to explore a whole new side of the character as the plot will see her with the upper hand over Streep’s Miranda Priestly. The upcoming film is set to follow Miranda, still in charge of the Vogue-inspired Runway magazine, as she faces off with Emily, who is now an executive at a luxury advertising firm.

And while Blunt is staying mum about what the film will reveal about her character, she previously mused where she hopes Emily is now.

I just hope she’s eating a nice French dip sandwich somewhere and she’s just happy,” Emily told E! News last year. “Not a cube of cheese. I hope she’s sort of transitioned into a proper sandwich at this point.”
