Lauren Sánchez Bezos‘ son Evan is all grown up.
The former Good Day L.A. anchor sent her 18-year-old off to college on Aug. 11, sharing a photo of the teen setting up his dorm room.
“Eighteen years of early mornings, late night snacks and family dinners … and then there he was building his own dorm cabinet,” Lauren—who shares Evan and daughter Ella, 17, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell—wrote on her Instagram Story. “A small thing but in that moment I saw the start of his next chapter.”
She added, “Proud, heartbroken, grateful.”
The bittersweet milestone comes nearly two months after Lauren’s wedding to Jeff Bezos, where she was accompanied by Evan and Nikko Gonzalez—her 24-year-old son with ex Tony Gonzalez—down the aisle.
“It has been the most fun dressing all the kids,” the 55-year-old told Vogue in June, explaining that Ella “never had a fitting” prior to preparing for her role of maid of honor in the nuptials.
As for how Lauren and Jeff, who is dad to four kids with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, blended their families together?
“On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids, which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids,” Lauren told the Washington Post in 2023. “We are the Brady Bunch!”
In fact, Lauren is even close to Nikko’s stepmom October “Tobie” Gonzalez.
“My greatest example is the relationship I have with my eldest son’s father, Tony,” the journalist shared. “Tony and his wife are my best friends.”
And while it took her and the Gonzalezes “about five years” to forge that close bond, it was all worth it for Lauren. As she put it, “I’m so proud of it. My son looks at me, and he’s like, ‘I’m the luckiest boy in the world because I can have Thanksgiving with both my parents and they don’t have to be married.'”
