After over a decade of marriage, Ashlee Simpson was able to share a special piece of herself with Evan Ross.
The “Pieces of Me” artist revealed that her husband had never seen her perform until their 11th wedding anniversary on Aug. 30, when he was in the crowd during her “I Am Me” show in Las Vegas.
“It was so cool because Evan’s never seen me play a show,” she exclusively told E! News at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Sept. 7. “We’ve played shows together, but he’s never actually seen me in action.”
So, how did Evan—who shares kids Jagger Snow Ross, 9, and Ziggy Blu Ross, 3, with Ashlee—react to the spectacle?
“He was like, ‘Wow, you’re so good,'” Ashlee, 40, shared. “I was really touched. It was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.”
And aside from giving Evan the chance to see her rock the stage, the singer—who is also mom to Bronx MowgliWentz, 16, with ex-husband Pete Wentz—admitted her Vegas shows have come with another bonus, too.
“All of a sudden, my kids think I’m cool,” she quipped to E!. “It’s been a blast, honestly, just for me to get up there and perform these songs that I haven’t played in so long. And then to understand, for me, what it feels like to play them again feels the same for my fans has been just incredible.”
Another moment of nostalgia? Her reunion with sister Jessica Simpson at the 2025 VMAs, where both are set to present. It’s even brought up the possibility of another music collab for the pair.
“I definitely think that could be in the works, for sure,” Ashlee said. “That’s something I think we’d love to do. It’s been fun, both of us in these places, revisiting it and supporting each other and loving each other. And be like little cheerleaders.”
