Oasis is mourning the loss of a fan.
The band expressed its grief after a concertgoer had fallen from the upper tier of London’s Wembley Stadium during their reunion tour show on Aug. 2.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,” the band shared in a statement to The Guardian. “Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”
After the tragic incident at the venue—where Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher will perform for seven days during their Oasis Live ’25 Tour—the venue confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the concert went “ahead as planned.”
The venue also commended first responders for quickly tending to the fan, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died,” a rep for Wembley Stadium added. “Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.”
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police confirmed the 40-year-old man was “found with injuries consistent with a fall” during the fourth night at the venue.
“The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident,” the authorities told BBC, “or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.”
They urged fans who may have additional information to reach out to their office.
E! News has reached out to reps for Oasis and the Metropolitan Police Department for comment and has not yet heard back.
Oasis will finish their first set of dates at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 4 before spending three days in Scotland. After making their way to Canada, the United States and Mexico, the brothers will return to Wembley in September for two more dates.
For Noel and Liam, who are back on the stage together after 16 years, their reunion tour marks a major milestone in their relationship. Indeed, it was their very public, strained dynamic that was the demise of the successful band.
For years, fans begged for the pair to bring “Wonderwall” back to life, with Liam eventually telling MOJO last February before their reunion tour announcement, “It’s down to the universe. It’ll happen when it happens, it’s not in our hands anymore.”
