Selena Gomez isn’t sticking to tradition for her wedding to Benny Blanco.
The Only Murders in the Building actress recently teased a surprising detail about her upcoming nuptials to the record producer, admitting that they probably won’t be cutting a cake.
“Whenever that day comes, I do know I don’t want a big cake,” Selena explained in a July 26 Rare Beauty TikTok. “My preferred dessert I think would be biscuits and gravy. My nana’s biscuits and gravy. That sounds like dessert to me.”
Of course, the 33-year-old does want to partake in the tradition of saving a bit of sweetness from her wedding day for her and Benny’s first anniversary, admitting they will have at least a small cake. As she put it, “I think I want a mini one for just us that we can freeze.”
And while Selena and Benny have been curating their perfect wedding menu since they announced their engagement in December, the couple’s love for food has always been a big part of their romance. In fact, the Open Wide author shared that he went all out on creating Selena’s dream meal for their first Valentine’s Day together.
“I brought a deep fryer—everything—made her fried pickles,” he recalled on TheHoward Stern Show in May 2024. “I got her all her favorite Taco Bell. She loves Hot Cheetos, I got her Hot Cheetos. And then she loves movie theater nachos, so I brought in the nacho machine.”
It was a culinary delight he took even further this year. For their first Valentine’s Day after their engagement, Benny took Selena’s love for nachos to the next level, filling her bathtub with queso and spelling out “I love you” in tortilla chips on her bathroom floor. The 37-year-old shared the gesture to his Instagram at the time, writing in the caption, “When your fiancé [sic] isn’t much of a flowers girl.”
Selena, for her part, loved the gift. As she gushed in the comments, “I love everything ‘bout this.”
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum has previously shared that Benny’s cooking skills are a huge bonus in their romance.
“I have a very good cook in my house,” she gushed to E! News in December. “It’s intimidating cooking for him for sure, so I let him do all that.”
