Hannah Carnat-Gronnerud is facing a tremendous loss.
Theinfluencer’s fiancé Ian de Metz died on July 17, just six weeks before the couple was set to get married, her friend Natalie Berard shared on Hannah’s Instagram.
“Ian was tragically killed in a work accident,” she captioned the July 20 post. “Hannah and Ian’s families appreciate you all and your support during this tragedy. We are continuing to surround them with love and ask you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Which Hannah—best known for her body positivity content—is eternally grateful for.
“I don’t have anything to give right now but I must say thank you,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories July 22. “I am in complete awe at the love so many of you feel between Ian and I. Thank you all for your messages.”
The tragic accident comes less than a month after Hannah updated the countdown until their nuptials, writing on Instagram June 24, “68 days until I marry my baby!!”
“My literal SOULMATE ANGEL CHILD BABYBOO MY LUUUURV MY BF4EVER MY EVERYTHANG I’M SO OBSESSED WITH,” she gushed. “HE IS ME I AM HIM!!!!”
As she prepared for their wedding, she took her 63,000 followers along on the journey, which included dress shopping, a trial manicure and bridesmaid proposals.
For Hannah, Ian was her biggest cheerleader as she navigated her issues with her body image.
“If you asked me how gaining and losing over 180 pounds in my 6-year relationship has affected our relationships, I’d say it hasn’t changed the dynamic much,” she wrote on her June 12 TikTok. “But if you asked me on a deeper level… I’d probably say it’s shown me how deeply Ian loves me for me.”
“It’s strengthened my trust,” she continued, “not just in his love, but in his belief that I can always keep growing and that I’m worth showing up for.”
And Ian will always be remembered for that integrity.
“Ian was known for his warmth, kindness and generous spirit,” a note shared to a GoFundMe read. “He brought light to every room he entered and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.”
