Pete Davidson is looking back on his meet cute.
The Saturday Night Live alum gave rare insight into his relationship with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt—who is pregnant with their first baby—including the sweet story of how first crossed paths.
“We both met through mutual friends who were just like, ‘You guys should meet,’ and then we met,” Pete, 31, exclusively told E! News at the premiere of The Home on July 22. “We weren’t really looking for anything and we immediately were just like, ‘Oh, wow.'”
As for what makes their relationship so special?
“I would say she’s female me and I’m male her,” he explained. “We just laugh all day.”
While they didn’t go Instagram official until March, Pete noted that it was “very apparent” that he and the model were meant to be when they met. As he put it, “She’s the best.”
Now, the couple is expecting a child together, which Elsie, 29, announced through an Instagram post July 16. She comedically captioned the announcement post, which featured an ultrasound photo and a video from a doctor’s visit, “welp now everyone knows we had sex.”
But despite the hilarious sex confession, theKing of Staten Island actor shared that they’re “stoked” as they look ahead into their upcoming chapter together.
“I’m very lucky,” he told E!, “and very, very happy.”
Pete also called fatherhood a “dream,” sharing that fellow SNL stars have given him their full support, even noting that Adam Sandler gave him “some great advice.”
“Everybody’s just been super excited for me, because they know it’s been my dream,” he shared. “They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life.'”
Pete continued, “When you do something, when we do anything, you want everyone to be excited, especially having a child, so everybody’s been great.”

I’m trying to figure out a way around it.”
