Riley Curry has reached a golden milestone.
After all, Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry’s eldest daughter—who often stole her dad’s spotlight as a toddler while sitting alongside him at his Golden State Warriors post-game conferences—is officially a teenager.
“And just like that she’s THIRTEEN,” Ayesha gushed on Instagram July 20. “Leaving it at that because @stephencurry30 and I are still processing. We love our Riley Roo.”
It seems the entire internet is processing the news as well. As one fan commented under the birthday post, “The little girl we all fell in love with while she interrupted her dad’s press conference is all grown up!”
Indeed, Riley had proven she was the real MVP in 2015 at just 2 years old, as she yawned, giggled, and even told her dad to “be quiet” as he tried to answer questions from reporters.
It didn’t stop there as she had an encore performance, where she sang Big Sean’s “Blessings” into the mic while Steph—who also shares kids Ryan Curry, 10, Canon Curry, 7, and Cauis Curry, 14 months, with Ayesha—reflected on the game.
Looking back a decade later, Ayesha admitted that she and the NBA superstar didn’t know what social media fame was “going to become.”
“If we had known back in the day just how chaotic it would make life, I don’t think we would’ve done it,” she told Business Insider in May 2023. “But we were just genuinely living our lives back then. And we thought, ‘This is our kid. We’re bringing our kid along.'”
In an effort to keep their children’s lives more grounded, the couple decided to keep social media accounts and cellphones away from them for now.
Steph agreed, telling SF Gate in 2019 that he “didn’t know how much that would blow up and how much of a splash she [would make] on the scene.”
“My goal is just to … give my kids the best chance at success and at seeing the world in the proper way,” he explained. “Trying to give our kids the best chance to be successful and have a normal life in terms of treating people the right way, having respect, not getting too big-headed and feeling like everything’s about them.”
