Kelly Clarkson is happier than ever to see her daughter following in her footsteps.
During her Studio Sessions residency at the Colosseum at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace on July 18, the “Since U Been Gone” singer brought her daughter River Rose onstage with her, as seen in a video shared to social media, to sing a duet of her favorite song.
After the two captivated the audience with their adorable performance of “Heartbeat Song,” fans couldn’t help but notice that River—who twinned with her mom in a t-shirt tucked into a pair of flared jeans—truly is her mother’s mini-me.
“Like mom, like daughter,” one user wrote in the comments, while another noted, “Omg not River being almost as tall as her mom.”
And while the 11-year-old had no problem captivating the crowd onstage, she also recently tried her hand at entertaining a live studio audience. In fact, she played producer for a day during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show back in April.
“My daughter is here today,” Kelly announced at the top of the broadcast before noting her daughter was shadowing showrunner Alex Duda for the day. “Oh my God! You have a mic and everything! You’re so fancy! Oh my God. I love it. You’re like a little mini producer.”
The American Idol alum—who also shares 9-year-old son Remington “Remy” Alexander with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock—also noted River attended “all the meetings this morning like an adult. She’s very professional.”
But for her part, the “Breakaway” singer has previously admitted that, when it comes to coparenting amid a crazy production schedule, keeping up with all her kids’ big events and school functions can be a bit difficult.
“Why do schools have things in the middle of the f–king day?” Kelly asked host Kylie Kelce during a March 25 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast. “They’re like, ‘Oh your daughter has a performance,’ and I’m like ‘Cool, I get to be the asshole because you decided that it would be a real opportune moment at 10 a.m. on a Thursday—when we’re out here hustling.’”
And while she admitted that her kids will sometimes compare her to other moms who can show up more often, there seems to be a bit of a double standard when it comes to their dad.
“They’re like, ‘He’s allowed to be somewhere, but you’re not,’” Kelly explained. “That is real interesting.”
“‘Do you think I just leave and sit in the park all day?’” she quipped. “Mommy does work, that’s okay. Women and men work, it’s okay.”
