This is the slam dunk proof fans have been waiting for.
The WNBA rookie Paige Bueckers recently answered questions about her “D1 girlfriend” in a video for WAG Talk, at the end of which she finally confirmed her girlfriend’s identity to be Azzi Fudd.
Among the answers Paige took on—and successfully answered—were which high school her girlfriend played for, what year was she awarded Gatorade Player of the Year, what college basketball team her dad played for and what words her phone case has on it.
The answer to the last one? As Paige sheepishly admitted, “It says Paige Buecker’s girlfriend.”
As fans will recall, Azzi went viral earlier this year when a mirror selfie posted to Instagram revealed a white phone case bearing the words in pink. But even then, Paige and Azzi held out on any confirmation of their romance.
So, when the interviewer Maddy then prompted in the new video, “Okay girlfriend reveal, it’s…” fans finally heard the 23-year-old officially say, “It’s Azzi Fudd.”
After all, fans had been speculating over the two basketball players since as early as the WNBA draft in April, when Azzi joined Paige and her family as Paige became the first overall draft pick, chosen by Dallas Wings. There were some fans, though, that have suspected a romance since the pair were teammates on the UConn’s women’s basketball team.
So, naturally, the confirmation came with much excitement. As one user wrote, “Ok this is like THE REALL hard launch,” another adding, “This interviewer deserves a raise….I dream for nights like this.”
A third added, alongside a heart and crying emoji, “GIRLFRIEND, we’ve come a long way.”
Others couldn’t help but notice how happy Paige looked while answering the questions, smiling widely. As one fan added, “She cheesing mad hard too, that’s her girl fr.”
The WAG Talk video, shared July 17, came just hours after Paige shared yet another glimpse of Azzi on Instagram, this time showing the pair cuddled up on a couch.
The basketball pro captioned the carousel of images, “Growing through it all. Halfway through. Thank you God.”
