Isla Fisher has some thoughts about marriage after her divorce with Sacha Baron Cohen.
One month after confirming that she and the comedian finalized their legal separation, the Now You See Me star shared a cryptic note about why some women are “against marriage” these days.
“For all those men who say, ‘Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?'” read a quote card posted on her Instagram Story July 16, which was initially shared on the @sheinspiresstrength account. “Here’s an update for you.”
The post went on to say that certain women are choosing to stay unwed. “Why?” the message read. “Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.”
Isla also made a joke about men on her Instagram grid, sharing what looked to be an news article graphic that read: “Man Was Found to Be Missing 90% of His Brain But Was Still Living a Normal Life.”
In the caption, the 49-year-old quipped, “Are you sure it’s just one man they found?”
Isla’s followers were quick to speculate that she was alluding to her ex-husband, who she was married to for 13 years before their 2023 breakup. In the comments section, one fan posted a GIF of Sacha in 2006’s Borat with the caption, “High five.”
Meanwhile, another comment wrote, “What’s crazy, is even with something this vague, pretty much everyone knows who’s being referred to.”
But for what it’s worth, Isla and Sacha, 53, are committed to co-parenting their three kids. As they shared in a 2024 statement announcing their split, “We forever share in our devotion and love for our children.”
The former couple reiterated that sentiment in June, when they confirmed that their divorced had been finalized.
“We are proud of all we’ve achieved together,” Isla and Sacha wrote on their respective Instagram Stories, “and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children.”
