Chad Franke is taking a big step in his relationship.
The 20-year-old son of Ruby Franke and her ex-husband Kevin Franke shared that he got engaged to his girlfriend Kam Anderson.
In a video posted to his Instagram June 15, Chad—wearing a white shirt, gray shorts and sneakers—stood in front of a gorgeous mountain vista while he pretended to stare down at a ring in shock. Atop his surprised reaction, he wrote, “How we think my girlfriend will react to the proposal.”
And in a second shot, Chad really did pop the question, getting down on one knee in front of Kam—wearing cut-off jean shorts and a white tank top—on a wooden walkway. The esthetician, 21, turned around when she noticed the ring and gave her new fiancé a tight hug.
“Vs. her reaction,” Chad wrote atop the adorable moment, adding in the caption, “Best day I’ve ever had. #engaged #proposal.”
Following his announcement, several of the Utah realtor’s family and friends congratulated him on the milestone, with his sister Shari Franke, 22, commenting, “NEW SISSY.”
Meanwhile, Twilight star Taylor Lautner wrote, “Let’s gooooo,” and content creator Jared Mecham added, “Aww! Congrats!”
However, one person who hasn’t publicly commented on Chad’s engagement? His mom Ruby, who is currently serving an up to 30-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to four felony counts of second-degree aggravated child abuse.
And while the matriarch—who in addition to Chad and Shari, shares four other kids with Kevin—may not be around when her son ties the knot, she previously expressed wanting the best for them during a court hearing to receive her sentence in 2024, one year after two of her youngest children were found emaciated and abused in her care.
“To my babies, you are a part of me. I believed dark was light and right was wrong,” she said at the time. “I would do anything in this world for you.”
