Paris Jackson Claps Back at Critics of Her Performing on Dad Michael Jackson’s Death Anniversary

Watch:Why Michael Jackson’s Daughter Paris Is Slamming Concert Critics

Paris Jackson is not going to apologize for how she’s spending a difficult day.

After facing backlash for her scheduled performance on the anniversary of dad Michael Jackson’s death June 25 as part of her tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra, the 27-year-old defended how she is spending the anniversary.

So, people are mad again,” Paris wrote in a since-expired June 13 Instagram Story, per the Independent. “One of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”

However, Paris—whom the late “Thriller” singer shared with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, along with 28-year-old Prince Jackson—explained why she would be going through with the gig.

“So, what I guess I have to explain to these people is that when…you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform,” she continued, before adding sarcastically. “So [what], I’m gonna tell ’em, ‘Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’”

The “Hit Your Knees” singer ended her message with a simple note to her haters, adding, “F–k you.”

This is not the first time Paris—who is engaged to songwriter Justin Long—has had to defend how she honors her late father following his 2009 death. In August 2023, she explained why she chose not to commemorate what would have been his 65th birthday on Instagram.

“Today is my dad’s birthday and back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday,” she said in a video at the time. “He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party or anything like that.”

And while Paris slammed those who criticized her choice for not wishing her father—also dad to 22-year-old Bigi Jackson—a happy birthday on social media, she did give him a shout out during her show with Incubus that same day.

“He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so I could stand up here on stage, in front of you, and scream into a microphone,” she said of Michael during the show. “So I owe everything to him.”
