Amid speculation that the “Same Old Love” singer and the record producer—who announced their engagement in December—will soon tie the knot, Benny revealed they haven’t set a date just yet. In fact, the songwriter sent a message to pal Ed Sheeran, who recently teased an invite to the nuptials.
“Eventually Ed will come to our wedding when we do have one,” Benny—who cowrote “Don’t” and several other of the Grammy winner’s songs—said on the June 4 episode of Australia’s Today show, “but unfortunately, we have not scheduled one yet. But we will.”
Benny’s latest comments echo his previous sentiments about the couple’s wedding plans.
“We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’-type of people,” he told Rolling Stone in an interview published in March. “We’re still not over this moment.”
However, the two have discussed one important detail.
We do want to make sure that the music’s good,” she said in a joint appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with Benny in March. “And I’m gonna let that be his job.”
And speaking of the wedding reception, the pair are thinking about nixing tradition when it comes to a first dance.
I don’t think we’re looking at having one of those,” the Rare Beauty founder said on the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcastin April, noting that she hoped to share the moment with her grandfather. “I am looking to have a special dance with my papa. He never got a chance to walk my mom down the aisle because, good for my mom [Mandy Teefey], she decided to go to Vegas and was like, ‘Whooo’ and she’s still been with him [Brian Teefey] ever since she was 26.”
“So it’s very cute that they did that,” Selena continued. “But I wanted to give my grandfather the opportunity to have that.”
