Rhode Island is about to ger real—and Andy Cohen is totally here for it.
The Watch What Happens Live host spoke out with a message to any Bravo fans who might have been shocked by the network’s recent announcement that the newest Real Housewives franchise will be set in Rhode Island.
“I don’t totally know the reaction to [The Real Housewives of] Rhode Island, but I hope it was great, because it’s going to be great,” Andy exclusively told E! News cohost Keltie Knight at Universal Parks’ Epic Universe launch party in Florida on May 21. “I have to assume people were surprised.” (Don’t miss E! News tonight, May 22, at 11 p.m. for more exclusive interviews from Universal’s Epic Universe opening red carpet.)
In fact, the unexpected New England locale was what attracted Bravo in the first place. As Andy added, “We like to announce things that people don’t see coming.”
And if any Bravo fans are starting to miss The Real Housewives of New Jersey given the show’s very uncertain future, worry not, because Rhode Island will certainly fill that void, according to the 56-year-old.
“It’s really good,” Andy teased, “and they are Italian with a capital ‘I.’”
According to Bravo’s May 7 announcement, “Set against the shores of the Ocean State, The Real Housewives franchise expands into the world of a tight-knit circle of Rhode Islanders who have deep community roots and families that go back generations. With aspirational lives, thriving businesses and tangled family dynamics, these decade-long friendships prove that in a state this small, there’s no escaping your past…or each other.”
But while the premiere of RHORI is still far off in the distance, The Real Housewives of Miami returns next month for season seven. And the drama will be spicier than ever.
As Andy teased, “There’s a drink throw, but whatever. There’s so much more than a drink throw on the new season of Miami. It’s so funny, it’s dramatic and it is a level of petty like you haven’t seen that really makes me laugh.”
As for reports about The Real Housewives of New York City currently being on a temporary pause, Andy shared, “We’re casting, we’re between seasons. It’s not a recast, we’re just casting.”
