Jessica Biel’s confession about her kids will be tearin’ up your heart.
The 43-year-old shared rare insight into her life at home with husband Justin Timberlake and their sons,10-year-old Silas Timberlake and 4-year-old Phineas Timberlake, including which of their sons takes more after which parent.
“They are both of us combined, and their own beings in all the ways,” Jessica told E! News at the New York premiere of her new show The Better Sister. “I think my older one looks like me but is more like him and my younger one looks like him but is maybe more like me, you know?”
“It’s a little bit backwards like that,” she added. “And then they’re just their own beings.” (For more with Jessica, tune into E! News tonight, May 21 at 11 p.m.)
In fact, it’s this diversity among siblings that is part of the reason the Candy star was so drawn to her role as younger sister Chloe to Elizabeth Banks’ Nicky in The Better Sister. The Prime Video series follows the pair after Chloe’s husband—and Nicky’s ex-husband—is murdered, reuniting the estranged sisters and revealing that not everything is as it seems.
“Siblings can have totally different experiences with their parents,” Jessica explained. “Depending on when they were born, what order, what your parents were going through at the time, what you were told—what was the truth, what was a lie—and how that sort of manifests in your adult life. That’s one of the themes that’s really important to me, which is one of the things I really loved about this character and this story.”
And it’s the layers to her character, specifically, that drew the 7th Heaven alum to the project, which began streaming May 20.
“She’s just this extremely complicated woman who presents in one way, and wants you to think this thing about her, and have this perfect life,” she noted, “when really that there’s so much stuff going on behind the scenes in her own home. I just love exploring humans like that.”
Thankfully, when it comes to her own home—and how she and the kids are planning to celebrate Justin on Father’s Day in June—things are much more clearly cut.
“Justin loves to golf, so I hope he gets to golf that day,” she said. “And of course it’s fun to spend time with your kids, but from everything I know about Mother’s Day where you just really need a break and want a solo break, I will take the kids and he can just go have a great day.”
After all, he deserves it. “He’s such a big part of our family,” Jessica gushed. “We love him so much and want him to feel appreciated, so whatever he wans to do.”
