The tattoos of Kristen Stewart.
The Twilight actress stepped out for the premiere of her directorial debut The Chronology of Water at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival May 16 in a white Chanel shorts suit that showed off her new tattoo: The word “MINE” in black ink on her lower right thigh, just above her knee.
Turns out, the 35-year-old’s new ink has a NSFW backstory linked to her new project.
“The coolest song in the movie is when she c—s on her hand, smells it, wipes it on her f–king bicep, and goes, ‘I didn’t know a girl body could do that. Shoot c–e,'” Kristen told Vulture in an interview published May 17. “And then this song comes on and it goes, “Mine, mine, mine, mine.” And it’s just f–king mine.”
The Happiest Season actress added that the rest of the crew plans on getting matching versions of her “MINE” tattoo while also revealing that she got another word inked on her body “the day before” heading to Cannes.
“I have ‘Why’ tattooed right here,” Kristen shared, pointing to her upper arm. “I was running ragged, we had just finished the movie, and I was like, ‘No matter what, top priority, find a woman who can give us three tattoos today!'”
As for the word’s meaning for her, the first-time director pointed to The Chronology of Water‘s runtime.
“I don’t think the movie is long,” Kristen said. “It’s two hours and eight minutes, with a killer credit sequence that you have to see til the last frame to finish the movie. But it’s a serious f–king movie. We deserve to take up space. I didn’t need to make an hour and a half digestible experience so it would be less difficult for the consumer. It’s cool that at one point you go, ‘Are we still doing this? Why?'”
The actress also debuted her newly-dyed pink tips during a photocall for her film ahead of its premiere, which she explained also had to do with the project.
“It’s a bloody motif,” Kristen shared. “I wanted to bring a little bit of the movie into my body.”
