Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry Team Up for Heist, Try to Outsmart Mark Ruffalo in New ‘Crime 101’ Trailer

Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry team up to outsmart Mark Ruffalo in a new trailer for their heist movie Crime 101.

Amazon MGM Studios released the latest trailer for the film on Thursday. Crime 101 follows elusive thief Davis (Hemsworth) as he crosses paths with insurance broker Sharon (Berry), and they decide to work together on his final heist. On the other side of the crime, Detective Lou Lubesnick (Ruffalo) is determined to stop the multi-million-dollar heist.

The Bart Layton-directed movie’s cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte.

The trailer begins with Davis and Sharon talking as they both wait for their cars at a valet. After she jokingly tells him that she wants to be in his “line of work,” clips cut to him driving in a car with a face mask and gun.

The pair are later seen chatting at a restaurant, where Sharon tells Davis he looks like “a person who has secrets.” She continues, “You got the car, the clothes. But you can’t seem to look me in the eye.”

The trailer then cuts to a scene of Davis holding someone at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, Lou shares an update about his investigation into the heists with a room full of detectives. “We’re looking at robberies of jewels, money or high-value items in the last four years,” he says. “Now, remove every robbery where there was DNA left at the scene. I think all of these are the same guy and he hits every time along the 101 freeway.”

Following clips of Davis committing his heists, he’s seen convincing Sharon to participate in a job together, targeting the company where she works as vice president. She quickly agrees to work with him, and insists she will get $3 million of the $11 million he steals.

While Davis is determined to pull off the heist, Lou notices that he follows a “pattern” in his crimes.

Lou later gets into a car that is chauffeured by Davis. After Lou asks Davis if he likes cars, the detective shares, “I used to dream of having a Mustang when I was a kid.” He then asks Davis if he’s ever seen the 1968 movie The Thomas Crown Affair, in which Steve McQueen “plays a high class thief.” While it’s not clear if either person knows who the other is, they both appear suspicious throughout the conversation.

The trailer concludes with Sharon saying that Davis was breaking “every rule you’ve ever lived by” with their heist and asked what makes this job “different.” He responds, “There comes a moment when you realize you don’t have as much time as you thought you had.”

Hemsworth, Berry and Layton discussed the film at CinemaCon in April. At the time, Hemsworth praised the “uniquely mesmerizing film, the kind that draws you into its world and keeps you in suspense in the last possible second.”

Crime 101 will hit theaters on Feb. 13.
