Billy Ray Cyrus’ achy breaky heart is one step closer to healed.
The 63-year-old shared a rare reflection on his family’s relationships on Mother’s Day, expressing that daughter Miley Cyrus plays a pivotal role amid the rumors of a family feud.
“I too rarely comment on rumors… but on this given day… I give you my truth,” Billy Ray wrote in his May 11 Instagram post. “I’m so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage… her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most. We are so close to a full healing.”
He continued, “We have all been through a lot. On this Mother’s Day I would like to testify to a couple facts. 1) I still very much believe in the power of prayer and respectfully ask if you do also … and have an extra prayer for the CYRUS Family… I humbly would accept.”
The Hannah Montana alum then went on to address his ex-wife Tish Cyrus, with whom he also shares Brandi Cyrus, 37, Braison Cyrus, 31, and Noah Cyrus, 25, as well as her son Trace Cyrus, 36.
“Tish Cyrus was and is the very definition of a strong mother,” Billy Ray added as his second fact. “Trust me I’m the first to admit… being married to me was not easy. I’m very good at making mistakes. A very imperfect man.”
The “In The Heart of a Woman” singer’s reflection comes shortly after Miley herself addressed her family’s relationship status after fans noticed Tish had seemingly unfollowed Miley on Instagram.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” Miley wrote on her Instagram Story May 10. “She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me-simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.”
For her part, Tish had also written on X, formerly Twitter, that the unfollow had been an accident, adding she and her daughter are “as close as we’ve always been.”
And while addressing the social media mishap, Miley also took a moment to talk about her father, admitting the pair have had their “challenges over the years.”
“Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,” the 32-year-old added. “I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
