From iconic beauty tips to their new MAC Cosmetics campaign, the Rinna-Hamlin duo shows how legacy and authenticity go hand in hand.
E!: Your MAC campaign is a tongue-in-cheek play on the nepo baby concept. Let’s talk about it.
LR: It’s exactly that. It is so cute. What I love about it is that it takes the 90s icon energy and marries it with the new progeny that’s happening now. We have the Lipglass and the new Lipglass Air. It’s so cute. We had so much fun doing this campaign.
E!: What does it mean. to kick off this campaign leading into Mother’s Day?
LR: To get to work with my kids is really one of the greatest gifts I never thought I would have. I’ve loved MAC Cosmetics since it began. I’ll never forget going into a MAC store for the first time. I just thought it was. the coolest thing ever. This just really felt right. When things are authentic and feel organic, they just click.

“Lipglass has truly been my favorite lip gloss forever.”
MAC Lipglass Air
“I love the new Lipglass Air. It’s not super sticky, but it gives you the same coverage as the original.”
More from Lisa: It’s a different feel, absolutely, but the same great MAC aesthetic—same coverage, same colors.
MAC Lip Pencil in Spice
“I layer it all. I use the original MAC Lipglass, Lipglass Air, and the Lip Pencil in Spice.I love the Spice lip pencil.”
MAC Lipglass
“I use all the lipsticks, all the glosses, and lip products from MAC.”
MAC Connect In Colour Eyeshadow Palette Unfiltered Nudes
“I love everything MAC. I love all the eyeshadows. I have so much MAC.”
MAC Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick
“I have so much MAC to this day. I think it’s just a staple in everyone’s cosmetic journey. I probably have more MAC than anything else.”
E!: Who’s the bigger beauty expert between you and Amelia?
LR: The girls are dialed in. If I learn anything new, it’s from them. One thousand percent.
Amelia introduced me to Greige lip liner. I’d never worn a grayish lip liner before this. Greige is fab. It’s the new pencil—Greige. I didn’t even know it was there. And it really was my color.
MAC Lip Pencil in Greige
“Where has this been my whole life? It’s so fabulous.”
E!: What’s a great Mother’s Day Gift ideas from MAC?
LR: How about just a lip pencil, a lipstick and a gloss? You can never go wrong. And they have so many colors to choose from. I love. to mix and match.
MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick
“I have a drawer. Well, I have so many drawers full of MAC lipsticks.”
E!: Do you have any tips to keep your makeup during warm weather?
LR: I wish I did. There really isn’t a secret. Eventually, you’ll have to reapply. I do like the MAC Fix+ Spray. I think that helps with your staying power of your makeup.
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray
“You can layer makeup over it, and then you spray again, and again. It’s really about layering.”
E!: Tell me about shooting the campaign with Amelia.
LR: The thrill for me is that I get to watch her be a model. She’s so phenomenal that I find myself watching the monitor while she’s working if we’re not doing it together. She knows exactly how to work the camera and move.
E!: What makes you most proud of Amelia when you’re on set together?
LR: The biggest joy is watching her and seeing how she interacts with everybody on set. There’s so much pride in that. Yes, I’m there working with her, but I’m always her mom. I get to see how she goes through life and works. I’m just so proud of her.
I’m blown away by her professionalism, how kind she is, and her humor. It’s really fun to work with her because she knows exactly what she’s doing. It doesn’t take long. We know how to whip it out. Good match.
E!: How does it feel getting to work with your daughters now that they’re building their own careers?
LR: I’m so proud because I know they’re great human beings. I didn’t mess them up so much that they can’t survive in the world. I feel very blessed that Harry [Hamlin] and I were able to do something right and make these amazing humans. That’s what I’m the most proud of.
E!: Amelia’s career has grown during a time when everything is highly visible and often judged online. What’s it like watching her navigate that landscape?
LR: It’s magnificent to watch. There’s a freedom that I don’t think a lot of 23-year-olds possess at that time in their life. She’s really fun to work with because she’s fearless.
I’ve been around long enough to finally get to that point where I, too, am fearless and will pretty much do anything.
E!: Now that your kids are young adults, how has your perspective on Mother’s Day evolved?
LR: Well, we had one year where everybody sort of forgot and didn’t pay attention. That will never happen again, because mama Lisa was not happy about that. They weren’t that old—they were adults, but maybe 19.
Let’s just say now, Mother’s Day is usually a big deal because of that one year. We have something really fun planned this year that Amelia set up. I can’t wait. We’re going on a little girls trip. It’s going to be so fun.
