Rise and shine! Kylie Jenner has officially arrived at the Met Gala.
Leaning into this year’s theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the Kylie Cosmetics founder stunned on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5 in a figure-hugging halter dress from Ferragamo featuring a sheer bodice and long tweed skirt with a high slit. (For more stars on the red carpet, head on over here.)
The reality star is no stranger to the annual event. In fact, she made her debut at the Met in 2016, stunning in a sparkling Balmain gown. Since then, Kylie has attended six more times, each year in a new, memorable look.
In 2022, Kylie donned an Off-White bridal look complete with a baseball cap and veil. A few years before that in 2019, she went viral for her lavender Versace gown, finished with a feathered train and sleeves.
Last year, the 27-year-old paid homage to the 2024 dress code “Garden of Time,” ascending the steps in an ivory Oscar de la Renta gown with a dramatic train and a simple, slicked back updo. The custom look was modeled after the statues in the short story by J.G. Ballard that inspired the theme of the annual event, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
Over the years, she has attended the soirée with her ex-Travis Scott, her sisters and her mom Kris Jenner. And in 2023, she decided she would bring her favorite partner along for a mother-daughter date night.
Kylie and Stormi Webster—her 7-year-old with Travis—stepped out of their hotel before fashion’s biggest night, revealing Kylie’s look for the night, a two-toned Jean Paul Gaultier dress and gown. Stormi joined her mom outside the hotel in an all-denim look paired with black sneakers and a white T-shirt—though she didn’t attend the actual benefit.
Before entering her mom era, Kylie grew up on the red carpet, and as the years have passed, The Kardashians star’s fashion has evolved, too. Though if you ask her, she’s just now breaking into the fashion world.
“I feel like I’m finally finding my fashion feet,” she told British Vogue in August 2024. “I’ve been way more into the fashion world and fashion week, and it’s been so much fun. I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I do this sooner?’”
And her stylists, the iconic duo Alexandra and Mackenzie Grandquist, agree, adding, “She has fun with it. She knows herself. [It’s] what makes her relatable to a generation of women.”
“Kylie is a fashion icon because of how she wears the clothing,” the Grandquists continued. “She is so involved.”
