Gigi Hadid is not biting her tongue in her 30s.
The supermodel, who just celebrated her 30th birthday with boyfriend Bradley Cooper at a star-studded New York City bash, detailed at the 2025 Met Gala how she is going into the new decade with a fresh perspective.
“My intention for my 30th year,” she posited to E!’s Zuri Hall at the Met Gala 2025, “is to say what I think when I think it.”
And the 30-year-old—who wore a custom gold Miu Miu dress complete with dangly De Beers earrings and a 1940s pin-up inspired hairstyle—wasted no time saying what was on her mind.
After all, she also dived into the details of how her dress perfectly fit the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and its Tailored for You dress code by honoring designer Zelda Wynn Valdes. (See every jaw-dropping Met Gala 2025 look here.)
“It’s an homage to Zelda Wynn Valdes, everyone go look her up,” Gigi added. “She was an amazing dress maker who made some special pieces in the late 40s, trained by her uncle in his men’s tailoring shop and she took those codes and skills and really mixed them together in order to let people express themselves through what she made.”
And while other Met Gala 2025 attendees interpreted the theme more literally, sporting menswear inspired by icons like André Leon Talley and Prince, Gigi shared how honoring the late designer—who died in 2001—felt perfectly on-theme for her.
“I think anyone who helped us get to the place in 2025 where every style you express yourself with is celebrated, we have to talk about,” she emphasized. “So this is for her, I hope she would love it.”
Fans of Gigi were quick to take note of her homage, pointing it out on social media. And many couldn’t hold back that the 30-year-old—who shares daughter Khai, 4, with ex Zayn Malik—looked stunning. As one fan wrote on X, “Gigi always looks so hood in gold and that vintage hairstyle is darling!”
The Guest in Residence founder certainly picked the right person for inspiration. Zelda’s designs were one of a kind—and hers was one of the first Black-owned businesses on Broadway, where she created costumes and gowns for stars like Eartha Kitt, Josephine Baker and Ella Fitzgerald, which were known for their glittery components.
“I made the designs for the beading,” Zelda said while speaking of her designs, per The Met, “and I had an Italian lady who did the beading for me.”
And the fashion icon didn’t spare any luxury when it came to crafting her gowns. As she put it, “ “At one point, I kept nine dressmakers busy.”
