Noah Lyles isn’t sprinting to write his wedding vows.
In fact, the Olympic runner revealed that he has zero plans to prepare remarks for his upcoming nuptials to fellow athlete and fiancée Junelle Bromfield ahead of their upcoming ceremony.
“That is still the plan,” Lyles exclusively told Erin Lim Rhodes and Lonnie Marts during E! News’ Live From E! Stream outside of New York City’s The Mark Hotel as the sports star made his way to the Met Gala 2025 on May 5. “I smile, that’s where I shine. To be honest, I don’t think that I can find the words written down. I think it’s just gonna have to happen in the moment, like everything else in life.”
And, ahead of fashion’s biggest night, the 27-year-old revealed what he finds more nerve-wracking: The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraiser red carpet or his own wedding. (See every celebrity on the Met Gala red carpet here.)
“Probably the wedding aisle, for sure,” Lyles told E!. “This is my second Met, so I feel a little more comfortable. But my wedding, I might cry.”
As for his perfectly tailored Thom Brown suit, Lyles—who popped the question to Bromfield last October—shared some behind-the-scenes scoop on what he loved about the look upon seeing the design, inspired by this year’s theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
“I saw the shorts and I was like, ‘Everybody’s going to be wearing pants,'” he joked. “‘I can’t be like everybody else. I gotta be different. You gotta talk to me different.'”
And the elegant details of his suit were anything but ordinary.
“We’ve got diamond incrusted pearls that I don’t think a lot of people have out there,” the gold medalist added. “This is billionaire jewelry.”
Lyles and Bromfield first announced their engagement last fall with Lyles sharing a sweet video of himself getting down on one knee. In an Instagram video, he thanked their loved ones for supporting their road to the altar.
““I’m extremely happy and grateful to each and every one of you guys,” Bromfield said, “And I hope you guys will also be along with us for the rest of our journey.”
