Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are going for gold at the 2025 Met Gala.
The Olympic gymnast and NFL player stepped out in coordinating looks at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 5, attending the annual fashion ball hosted by A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Vogue‘s Anna Wintour. (See all the celeb guests here.)
Simone—who married Jonathan in 2023—stunned in a custom, tailored blue mini dress with a white collar and a dramatic blue train, while her husband sported an all-white suit with a matching fur to fit the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and “Tailored for You” dress code.
However, Simone almost went in a completely different direction for the Met Gala this year.
As she told E! News just 10 days before the big event, “I have two options right now that we’re teetering back and forth with.”
The pair also had an added challenge of trying to match their ensembles together, even though they used “two completely different designers,” as Simone put it.
“We’re trying to still be cohesive and still on brand with the theme of the night,” the 28-year-old added. “That was really important.”
While the Olympian felt confident she and Jonathan would pull off their subtle matching, she was more apprehensive about tackling the famous steps of the Met in six-inch heels.
“That’s what I do now,” the 4-foot-8 athlete quipped to E!. “I feel like the stairs always make me nervous—I don’t know what it is, but I am not good with stairs.”
Simone would rather stick the landing on the mat. In fact, she admitted that she’s still keeping her options open about a return to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“I feel like it hasn’t even been a year since the last Olympics, so you have to let the athletes rest mentally and physically,” she shared, “and whenever it’s time, we’ll tell you that we’ll be ready—whether that’s on the floor, in the stands, whatever that may be.”
