Pharrell Williams’ Met Gala 2025 Date Night Will Leave You Feeling Happy

Clap along if you feel like Pharrell Williams outdid himself at the 2025 Met Gala.

As he walked the famed steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City March 5, the “Happy” singer donned a suited up Louis Vuitton look he described to E!’s Zuri Hall as “pinstripe pearls” for his fifth time attending the charity gala. (See all the stars on the red carpet at the gala.)

As one of the co-chairs for fashion’s biggest night of the year, alongside A$AP Rocky, ColmanDomingo, Lewis Hamilton as well as Vogue editor Anna Wintour and honorary chair LeBron James, the 13-time Grammy winner made sure to incorporate the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Back Style” into his fabulous ensemble.

His wife Helen Lasichanh, meanwhile, kept it in the family, opting for a black bustier bodysuit under her own Louis Vuitton jacket, her husband having served as men’s creative director for the brand since 2023.

And while the dress code encouraged attendees to channel menswear and suiting in their legendary ‘fits, the theme itself holds much more meaning.

“It’s going to be a very impactful, beautiful night where we celebrate the color Black,” Pharrell, who is also the men’s creative director for Louis Vuitton, said on the Run-Through with Vogue podcast in the days leading up to the big event. “We celebrate the things that come from that color. We celebrate the mentality. We celebrate the plight. We celebrate the progress and the success. And we celebrate the potential.”

“We see it in all different forms, right?” he continued. “From authors to architects to artists to academics and to athletes, all A words. But, yeah, that’s what that night is all about. It’s like the best of the best, top of the top.”

Indeed, this year’s exhibition pulled inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, in which she explores Black men’s use of style to “imagine new ways of embodying political and social responsibilities.”

And for the “Double Life” singer—who last attended the Met Gala in 2021 alongside wife Helen in matching Western-inspired outfits—this year’s gala is the perfect “manifestation of using the platform to celebrate us and all of our enthusiasts. That means people who are not necessarily Black, but just, like, enthusiasts of the Black culture.”
