Mark Consuelos Grated “A Little Bit” of Himself in Cooking Mishap on Set

Watch:Mark Consuelos Reveals He Grated ‘A Little Bit’ of Himself in On-Set Cooking Mishap

Mark Consuelos put his all into his latest dish—quite literally.

While chatting with wife Kelly Ripa and Florence Pugh during the May 2 episode of Live! With Kelly and Mark, the Riverdale alum revealed a recent mishap at the show’s on-set kitchen.

After the Thunderbolts* actress showed off a scar that she got last year after she “singed” her skin on a pot of boiling water, Kelly shared that Mark “had a horrible incident zesting a lemon the other day in the kitchen here.”

The couple—who have been married for nearly 29 years and share kids Michael, 27, Lola, 23,  and Joaquin, 22—then both admitted that there was “a little bit of Mark” left over in the final dish he was making.

Mark’s kitchen confession comes after he accidentally cut his finger while using a knife during an on-air cooking segment in March.

During that incident, the 54-year-old said, “I think I got a piece of nail in there.”

Mark’s hiccups around the studio kitchen also come as he and Kelly get used to their talk show’s new home. ICYMI, Live! made a recent move from the Upper West Side studio that it had taped in for 37 years to a new studio at Disney’s headquarters in lower Manhattan, and it left the couple feeling sentimental.

“Our kids grew up here,” Mark told People in an interview published April 1. “They’d come visit mom here a lot—they were always backstage, even when they were babies.”

For her part, Kelly—who has co-hosted the show since 2001 alongside Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest—also has fond memories with her kids in their home away from home.

“They came to work with me every day until they went to school,” she said. “They would go to All My Children with me, they would come here with me… we meant when we say they grew up in this building, in these four walls.”

“You have to remember, I had my kids back in a time when maternity leave was not really a thing,” Kelly went on. “But the good news is you could bring your kids to work with you. And because they’re very mindful of our hours here—as it is a live morning television show—I was able to be a full-time working woman and a full-time mother simultaneously.”

But, ultimately, the real home is with their work family on the Live! crew, which the 54-year-old noted helped her to raise her kids.

“Like, Lola doesn’t look at some of our producers as producers,” Kelly noted, “she looks at them as other moms.”

Kelly took a few days off in March 2022 to watch the Wolverines compete in the Division 1 Wrestling Championships in Detroit.

Still a freshman, Joaquin didn’t wrestle this time, but still, Kelly said on Live upon her return, “It took years off my life watching these young men.”

Generational Health

The whole family finally made it to Greece and Italy in June 2021 after the pandemic had other plans in 2020.
