B.J. Novakand Mindy Kalinghad a night outside of the office.

The Officealums—who have been BFFs since their brief 2007 romance—took some time to enjoy a comedy show in Los Angeles April 30 and documented the hang with an adorable selfie.

“Great time w @mindykaling watching the talented @caroline.timoney,” BJ, 45, captioned the snap shared to his Instagram Story, “at the legendary @genghiscohenla.”

For her part, Mindy—who is mom to kids Katherine Swati, 7, Spencer Avu, 4, and Anne, 14 months—shared a pic on her Instagram Story of comedian Caroline Timoney on stage during the show and called her “the funniest.”

While B.J.—who recently sparked romance rumors with influencer Delaney Rowe—and Mindy were quick to give a peek into their laugh-filled night out, the joy on their faces was nothing new for the longtime friends. In fact, Mindy commemorated the importance of B.J.’s friendship when she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in February.

“He’s such an important and integral part of my family,” the 45-year-old said during the event, “that sometimes I forget that the reason that I know him is because we worked together professionally.”

B.J.—who is the godfather to Mindy’s kids—also had the chance to honor the Mindy Project creator at the ceremony and shared some heartfelt sentiments on their friendship.

“You’d be on the walk of talent if they had one,” he shared. “You’d be on the walk of friendship. You’d be on the walk of compassionate parenthood. But let’s face it, all of these would be terrible field trips, so here you are instead, very deservedly, a person who means so much to so many on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

He also got in a playful jab, adding, “In addition to being a brilliant and wildly successful showrunner, an incredible mother of three, a deep and caring daughter and friend and mentor to so many,” he said, “Mindy is also in her spare time—I assure you—very superficial.”

The actor has worked with the Wu-Tang Clan rapper on several movies, including The Man with the Iron Fists, American Gangster and The Next Three Days. But their bond goes much deeper than that. “As friends, we talk,” Crowe tells Fuse. “It is no effort for me to give a friend advice. Film has many gods and you have to understand, as a director, you will be required to please and appease them all.”

Michelle Dockery & Pippa Middleton

Taylor Swift & Lena Dunham

The Goop goddess herself is actually friends with both Jay and his wife Beyoncé, though you might be more surprised to learn that Gwyn is an intense rap enthusiast and her kids even call Mr. Carter “Uncle Jay.”

Brad Pitt & Jonah Hill

You might not expect the hunky thespian to be close with the dude from Superbad, but look at it this way: Brad is a total prankster (says Jonah) and Jonah is now a serious Oscar nominee (for their film Moneyball).

Eminem & Elton John

The controversial rapper joined forces with Sir Elton at the 2001 Grammys and later Em turned to his new friend for support getting sober: “I told him, ‘Look, I’m going through a problem and I need your advice.'”
