Marvel at Sebastian Stan‘s new look.
The Captain America star unveiled a major hair transformation on April 28, stepping out to the Los Angeles premiere of Thunderbolts*—in which he reprises his MCU role of Bucky Barnes a.k.a. the Winter Soldier—with a shaved head.
However, Sebastian kept the same facial hair he had been seen with in recent months, rocking some scruff on his chin and cheeks.
It appears the 42-year-old, who wore a dark gray suit and slate-colored shirt to the red carpet movie screening, buzzed off his hair for his part in Fjord, a Cristian Mungiu-helmed drama set in Norway.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Sebastian altered his appearance for a movie. Most notably, he gained 15 pounds in order to play a young Donald Trump in 2024’s The Apprentice, a role that earned him an Oscar nomination.
“I had people tell me I don’t look like him,” he told Entertainment Weekly in October, explaining that getting fit for his various Marvel projects over the years made his cheeks “more hollow.”
“So, I called a nutritionist who I worked with before, and I said, ‘How do I quickly get bloating in my face,'” Sebastian continued. “He was like, ‘Then what I need you to do is get ramen and put a bunch of soy sauce packets in the ramen and start having that, and you’re going to get the salt in the face.”
He also started drinking a vast amount of soda to prepare for his role as the 45th and 47th president of the United States, who is a huge Diet Coke fan.
“I actually started drinking a lot of Coca-Cola,” Sebastian told Entertainment Tonight last year. “If you drink four Coca-Colas a day, a lot of things happen to your body. Don’t do it.”
To cap it all off, the actor worked with makeup artists Jason Collins and David Williams, as well as hairstylist Barry Lee Moe—who all had helped him morph into drummer Tommy Lee for the 2022 series Pam & Tommy—to put the final touches on his transformation into the commander-in-chief.
But as Sebastian noted to EW, “I was always trying to steer to less prosthetics because I didn’t want to go with a complete likeness. I wanted to go for the essence.”
