Pedro Pascal is shutting down J.K. Rowling’s behavior.
Amid the Harry Potter author’s ongoing anti-transgender stances, the Last of Us star—whose sister Lux Pascal is a trans woman—slammed her celebration of a Supreme Court ruling in the U.K. that excludes trans women from the legal definition of woman.
“Awful disgusting S–T is exactly right,” Pascal wrote under an Instagram post describing Rowling’s support of the bill. “Heinous LOSER behavior.”
Although Rowling first expressed her anti-trans beliefs in 2020, she has continued to speak out on her social media platforms. Earlier this month, she resparked backlash after writing in an X post following the Supreme Court ruling, “I love when a plan comes together.”
E! News has reached out to reps for Rowling regarding Pascal’s comments but has not yet heard back.
And while Pascal is the latest star to speak out against Rowling’s support of anti-trans action, he is not the first. In fact, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who played the trio of Harry, Hermione and Ron in the Harry Potter films, have all spoken out against Rowling’s beliefs.
“While Jo is unquestionably responsible for the course my life has taken, I feel compelled to say something at this moment,” Daniel wrote in a lengthy essay for the Trevor Project, a nonprofit that supports LGBT youth, in 2020. “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.”
He added of the Harry Potter franchise to its loyal fanbase, “It means to you what it means to you and I hope that these comments will not taint that too much.”
Watson, for her part, shared posts on social media shortly after Rowling’s own initial negative comments toward the transgender community on X.
“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are,” she wrote in a post at the time. “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”
Grint similarly shared that he stands with the trans community in various statements, also telling The Times of his relationship with Rowling in 2022, “It’s a tricky one.”
