Jake Shane is ready for his close-up.

The internet personality, known as “Octopusslover8” online, announced his role in the upcoming fourth season of Hacks with a behind-the-scenes photo of his appearance on the Max comedy.

“It’s not every day you fall in love with a TV show,” Jake wrote alongside the pic in an April 2 Instagram post, “and then get to guest star in it.”

The 25-year-old went on to thank the creatives behind the Emmy-winning series—which stars Jean Smart as a legendary comedian seeking to reinvent herself—for “trusting me with their vision,” saying he was “so grateful to be a part of this masterpiece of a show.”

Jake first gained prominence as a TikTok creator in 2023 with his humorous historical reenactments, later launching his Therapuss podcast which has featured notable interviews with stars like Glen Powell, Joe Jonas and Tate McRae. But the influencer has also been candid about the intrapersonal effects of his meteoric rise.

Influencers Reveal How Much Money They Make

“I think when I realized the growth wasn’t normal is when my mental health got bad,” he told GQ in 2023. “I gained a million followers in a week and I really truly thought that is what happened to everyone with a following on TikTok.”

But Jake couldn’t help envisioning his own demise, explaining that “part of my anxiety has always been that when something is going good, all I can think about is how it could go bad.”

Thankfully, the social media star has found engaging with his millions of followers to be therapeutic.

“It genuinely makes me feel so much better when we all talk in the comments,” he explained. “I don’t know if it makes my followers feel less alone—I call them my pussies—I don’t know if it makes the pussies feel less alone. But it really makes me feel less alone when I realize that other people are going through it too.”
