Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Jenner have paid their respects to Jesus Guerrero.
Following the celebrity hairstylist’s sudden passing in February, the two stars—who, in addition to many, worked with him throughout his career—were among those who attended his funeral in Houston March 30, according to multiple outlets.
Guerrero’s family announced he passed away at the age of 34 last month, noting in a heartbreaking statement that he was “a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more.” His cause of death has not been made public.
“Born and raised in Houston, TX to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top,” his sister Gris Guerrero shared in a message on a GoFundMe page at the time. “Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly.”
After news of his passing, many of his colleagues and clients shared heartfelt tributes to Guerrero, including the “Feel the Light” singer.
“It’s no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus,” Lopez wrote to Instagram Feb. 25 alongside a black-and-white selfie of Guerrero. “You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room.”
Lopez—who was traveling in the United Arab Emirates with Guerrero in the days leading up to his passing—also detailed the level of his craft. “You never demanded the spotlight,” she shared. “You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as you artistry did.”
Noting that she was “still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end,” Lopez explained his passing, “seems senseless and unfair.”
“I know your family is brokenhearted as am I,” she added, “and everyone else who knew you.”
Jenner also detailed the impact he had on those around him.
“Jesus was more than my friend—he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support,” Kylie wrote in a Feb. 25 Instagram post, alongside several photos and videos of her and Jesus together over the years. “I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter.”
“Thank you, Jesus, for always being there for me, for lifting me up, for being my friend,” she continued. “The pain of losing you is just unbearable and I don’t know how to move forward without you but I know great grief is born only of great love, and I loved you so much.”
Katy Perry—who has also worked with Guerrero—had to miss the funeral due to rehearsal for her upcoming tour, per reports.
