For Anna Faris, “Mom” isn’t just a role she played on TV.
At home, the 48-year-old is, of course, mom to son Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt. And now that the 12-year-old is a preteen, their relationship has continued to evolve.
“Whenever my son—and he’s only done this a handful of times—but when he asks me for advice, or he reveals to me that he trusts me,” Anna shared in an exclusive interview with E! News, “I get sort of a flood of emotional gratitude and confirmation that I guess I’m doing something right.”
After all, motherhood doesn’t come with a playbook.
“I think as parents, we’re always questioning, you know, ‘What are we doing? Are we giving good guidance? Are we raising kids with a good foundation?’” the House Bunny actress explained. So when Jack turns to her for help, “Those indicators make me feel like, ‘Okay, I’m on the right path here.’ And I’m really proud of him.”
And there was no point in which she was prouder than after watching Jack navigate the devastation of the Los Angeles wildfires, during which time their home was destroyed.
“When we lost our home in the fire,” she added, “he’s handled it so with so much strength and practicality that also is confirmation to me that he’s strong and he’s even keeled.”
It’s validation that Anna is handling parenting pretty well. Because as she shared, she and Jack are coming from different backgrounds.
“I didn’t grow up in Hollywood, I grew up cleaning bathrooms,” she joked, which is why she’s so grateful for products like Scrubbing Bubbles’ Easy Clean line. “When I was a kid, I was assigned bathroom duty. And my mom is incredibly clean, and I am not at all, but I was in there with the old toothbrush around the toilet—that was like my duty. And so I’ve been using Scrubbing Bubbles for a long time.”
And because Scrubbing Bubbles means house chores are such a breeze, when she’s not off shooting new projects—much like she’s doing right now in Australia for the upcoming film Spa Weekend—in their down time Anna says Jack has taken to catching up on her filmography.
“He really likes The House Bunny and Just Friends,” she revealed. “He also really likes the animated work.”
Anna joked, “It’s sounding like, I make him watch my work—I don’t. But I think he’s really proud of me. I also think he’s pretty adjusted to seeing his mom be ridiculous.”
