Paul Feig is sticking by Blake Lively’s side.
As the A Simple Favor director celebrated Oscars 2025 at the Vanity Fair after-party, he shared how he’s continued to support the Gossip Girl alum through her legal battle with It Ends With Usdirector Justin Baldoni.
“We went to SNL 50th anniversary together and just had a blast,” Paul gushed to in an exclusive interview with E! News on the star-studded red carpet. “She’s great, she’s awesome.” (For more from Paul and other Oscars after-party attendees, tune into E! News tonight, March 3, at 11 p.m.)
And the filmmaker also gave a glimpse at what to expect from his film’s sequel, Another Simple Favor, starring Blake and Anna Kendrick. He teased that the film, which will hit Amazon’s Prime Video May 1, will include, “lots of twists and turns, lots of beautiful Italian sceneries, great costumes and some amazing performances.”
Indeed, if the first trailer for Another Simple Favor, released Feb. 26, is any indication of what is to come, it will be a film fans won’t want to miss. Blake returns as the criminally chic Emily Nelson, and invites Anna’s Stephanie Smothers—who, it seems, had written a book about her friendship with Blake’s character—to stand up in her destination wedding in Italy.
Blake’s character also eerily hints at what is to come in the upcoming movie, telling Anna’s character as she tries to convince her to rendezvous in Italy with her, “If I do try to murder you, it would make an amazing sequel.”
While the Age of Adaline star herself did not step out at the Vanity Fair party, lots of other stars—including Anna—made themselves known. Indeed, the Pitch Perfect alum spent her evening catching up with the A Simple Favor director inside the star-studded event, and was also photographed chatting with pals Melanie Lynskey, James Marsden and Olivia Wilde.
Attendees of the 97th Academy Award ceremony also showed up for the post-game festivities. Timothée Chalamet—who was bested in the Best Actor category by Adrien Brody—attended alongside girlfriend Kylie Jenner. Meanwhile, Best Actress winner Mikey Madison used her trophy as the ultimate accessory at the shindig. (See every Oscar winner here).
