Talk about your slam-dunk style.
Angel Reese, a member of the 2025 Met Gala host committee, headed up the team of WNBA stars who showed off their personal style on the red carpet at the May 5 fashion extravaganza. (See all the red carpet looks at the 2025 Met Gala.)
The 22-year-old alum of Louisiana State—where she was crowned SEC Player of the Year in 2024 and proudly known as “Bayou Barbie”—suited up for the occasion in a satin tuxedo-inspired Thom Browne jacket with a sharp white collar, hip corset and drop-waist skirt with a dramatic train.
Massive rings and glittering earrings by Graff added some winning bling to the menswear-inspired look.
In sartorial circles, the Chicago Sky’s star power forward—who attended her first Met Gala last year—is known as much for her off-court looks as she is for grabbing rebounds and racking up double-doubles.
“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese told Vogue in an interview published Jan. 8. “I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”
Breanna Stewart sported a white suit and cape that made the most of her 6-foot-4 frame and topped her outfit with a jaunty white fedora, while her New York Liberty teammate Sabrina Ionescu—relatively petite at 5-foot-11—paired her long black skirt with a white bustier and cropped black tuxedo jacket.
Sergio Hudson was behind both looks befitting the defending WNBA champions, who made the scene with team owner Clara Wu Tsai.
Ionescu’s interest in fashion is a newer development, the athlete attending her first fashion show in New York last year and returning to Paris in January—after her gold medal winning showing with the U.S. women’s national team, including Stewart, at the 2024 Summer Olympics—for the Dior Homme show.
“You go from college, where you just wear your warm-up gear to the game, to then getting into the pros where, you know, especially in New York, it’s a big deal walking into the tunnel,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “Everyone’s anticipating what you’re going to wear.”
Being back in the City of Light as a spectator was “definitely less stressful,” she added. “But it’s nice coming back here in an offseason and being able to reminisce. Last night I went to the NBA game in the same arena where we won a gold medal, so it’s been really exciting to relive some of those memories while also just being able to really enjoy Paris.”
Reese, who will certainly be on an Olympic team in the future, was joined on the host committee this year by Grammy winner Doechii, track star Sha’Carri Richardson, Ayo Edebiri, Janelle Monaé, Simone Biles and her NFL player husband Jonathan Owens, Usher and Spike Lee.
Making her Met Gala debut in 2024, Reese was a vision in a mint green 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo gown.
