Ariana Grande proved her Wicked ensembles are still very much popular.
As she stepped out on the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet Sept. 7 at UBS Arena in New York, she kept up with her Glinda-inspired looks by donning a custom black-and-white polka dot dress from Fendi—featuring a light pink peplum waist for a bubble effect, natch.
To complete the outfit—which was inspired by a dress worn by Silvia Venturini in the 1980s—Ariana kept her hair in her signature ponytail with a matching patterned ribbon.
“And then THIS happened…..” her stylist Law Roach wrote on Instagram. “WE ARE BACK.” (See all the celebs at the VMAs here.)
But while she’s spent the last year focused on her Ozian journey, Ariana, 32, is continuing to feel the eternal sunshine. After all, she’s up for seven Moon Person awards, including Best Pop, Video of the Year, Best Long Form Video, Best Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects for her short film “brighter days ahead” off her 2024 album eternal sunshine.
And she’s made a point to balance her music with her increased passion for life on screen.
She stars in the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good, releasing in theaters November 21, and is tied to upcoming projects such as the Meet the Parents sequel and film adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ book Oh, The Places You’ll Go! alongside Wicked director John M. Chu.
“I think I love acting, I love musical theater,” Ariana explained on the Las Culturistas podcast last November. “Reconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater and who loves comedy and it heals me to do that.”
However, Ariana set the record straight after rumors began swirling that she would abandon music and fully pivot to acting.
“I’m always going to make music,” she clarified. “I’m always going to go on stage. I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise.”
The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer made that crystal clear on August 28 by revealing her plans to tour in 2026. And as for her message to those not convinced?
“Very silly of you all to assume that just because I have my hands full with many things that I plan to abandon singing & music,” Ariana wrote in July alongside a video of her performing at the 2024 Met Gala. “It is and has always been my lifeline. There will need to be room made for all of it.”
