Ariana Madix is giving Love Island USA viewers a reality check.
A clip from the Peacock dating competition show went viral after fans noticed a stray object on the ground during the current seventh season’s third episode that many thought appeared to be an intrauterine device (IUD), a type of birth control.
During the moment in question, the Islanders—what Love Island contestants are known as—walk into the villa’s main courtyard for a competition, as the cameras cut to their feet walking up onto the deck, a white, T-shaped item can clearly be seen on the ground.
After TikTok user posted a video of the moment and wrote, “Am I tired or is someone’s IUD on the ground????” commenters were divided on whether it was indeed what it looked like.
“This is insane IT ZOOMED IN ON IT,” one person wrote. “I need to know the back story here I’m cracking up.”
“Those things def don’t just fall out,” a second user wrote. “That’s so not normal, I’m so confused.”
To set the record straight, Ariana, who hosts Love Island USA, took to the comments to provide everyone with an answer on where the object really came from.
“lmao it’s from the flowers,” the Vanderpump Rules alum wrote under the TikTok post, “but this is cracking me up.”
The fan speculation comes as another Love Island USA fan theory had to be put to rest pertaining to contestants Michelle “Chelley” Bissainthe and Ace Green and their history with one another before the show.
While the pair acknowledged that they’d met outside of a nightclub and exchanged a few DMs, some viewers online suspected that there was more to the story.
It took a statement from Chelley’s friends—who are running her social media account during her tenure—to quell the speculation.
“We want to be transparent and clear the air, as some of the rumors have gotten far from the truth,” Chelley’s pals wrote on her Instagram Stories June 19. “Chelley and Ace briefly crossed paths in New York and later connected on social media.”
“They were never in a relationship, never lived together, and there are no children or hidden past,” the post continued. “What’s unfolding now is real, unscripted, and could change at any moment. We’re fully supporting Chelley, wherever her heart leads and with whomever she chooses to couple with.”
